Alroy paper

I enjoyed this paper and it basically answered all of the questions that i had about human population growth and the megafaunal extinctions.  I like the fact that varying population growth rates were used.  I wonder though, if human population growth rates were actually this low and not higher?  This would have sped up the extinction rates a bit though.  It is hard to argue this paper as it takes into consideration anthropomorphic predation and population and demographic stochasticity, which probably lead to the ultimate demise of the large, lumbering mammals.
I found the disease portion interesting and it would have been great if he could have elaborated more on this thesis.  But, with no one there to see disease ridden corpses can disease kill animals?  Or if a tree falls in the forest....
pura vida.
